What happens during a video surveillance installation?
We start with a site walk and a written camera layout. On installation days we pull and terminate cabling, mount and aim each camera, set up the recorder or cloud platform, configure schedules, retention, users, and remote access, then verify every camera view with you before closing out the project.
How long does a video surveillance installation take?
Small installations are frequently completed in a day or two. Larger facilities, long cable runs, and multi-building sites take longer and are often phased. You receive a projected schedule before any work starts.
What kind of cabling is used for a commercial installation?
Most commercial installations use Cat6 with Power over Ethernet, so a single cable carries both power and video back to the recorder or switch. On retrofits we can sometimes reuse existing conduit or coax runs, which cuts labor and keeps ceilings and walls intact.
Can cameras be installed outdoors or in unconditioned spaces?
Yes. Weather-rated and temperature-rated cameras are installed on building exteriors, in parking lots and yards, and inside unheated warehouses, garages, and production areas. Housing and mount selection is part of the design.
Will installation interrupt daily operations?
We schedule around your operating hours and can work evenings or weekends when an area needs to stay clear. Cable pulls and ladder work are staged so occupied space is disturbed as little as possible.
What do we need to have ready before installation begins?
Typically power and network access at the recorder location, a decision on how long footage should be retained, and a list of who needs access to the system. After the site walk we give you a specific list so nothing holds up the schedule.
Who configures remote access once the cameras are installed?
We do. User accounts, permissions, mobile and desktop access, and alert settings are configured and tested on site, and your team is walked through pulling and exporting footage before we leave.
Can a video surveillance installation be done in phases?
Yes. Many businesses cover the highest-risk areas first and expand later. We design the cabling, storage, and platform to accommodate the full plan so the later phases are additions rather than rework.
What support is available after the installation is complete?
Preventative maintenance, camera health evaluations, software and firmware updates, troubleshooting, repairs, and system expansions as the facility changes.
